Rust Belt brings back Ugly Christmas Sweater Revue
Things will get ugly this weekend at the Calvin Center, where the Rust Belt Theater Company will present its fourth annual Ugly Christmas Sweater Revue.
The quirky, family-friendly musical revue features popular and locally written material performed by local entertainers, clad in some of the ugliest Christmas sweaters around. The evening begins with a runway show and ends with an ugly sweater pageant.
According to Rust Belt founder Robert Dennick Joki, “We always end our season with the Ugly Christmas Sweater Revue because it gives our performers and patrons a chance to get together and celebrate the season, in a low key, family-friendly environment. Unlike a lot of our other productions, it’s a show you can bring the kids to. It also gives several of our young performers who have moved away for college a chance to do a show with us while they are in town for the holidays.”
The cast includes Grace Offerdahl, Jenn Caventer, Hunter Thomas, Brittiani McNeil, Murphy Lynn Sharp, Geri DeWitt, Starr McClure, Nick Lyras, Jala Beaseley-Williams, Daja Beasley-Williams, Robert Dennick Joki, Nicole Zayas and Monica Beasley Martin.
Prizes will be given out each night to the audience member with the ugliest sweater. There will also be a homemade soup and bread reception during the intermission of each performance.
Show times are 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday at the Calvin Center, 755 Mahoning Ave., Youngstown. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for students and senior citizens. For reservations or more information, call 330-507-2358.
