Guardian Angels, court staff help seniors
WARREN – The Guardian Angels and staff of the Trumbull County Probate Court and the Trumbull County Senior Court recently distributed gifts to 144 senior citizens of area nursing homes and shut-ins at senior apartments.
Trumbull Probate Court Judge Thomas Swift said the elderly recipients, many of which have no family, were thankful and delighted to receive the gifts.
Patty Hovanic, officer manger at the court, said students at Trumbull Career and Technical Center provided the gifts.
Guardianship and Protective Services and Home Instead Senior Care assisted in transporting and distributing the gifts as part of the 10th annual ”Be a Santa to a Senior” program.
Hovanic said the TCTC students collected the gifts.
“We put all the gifts together. The Guardian Angels help send them out to the nursing homes,” she said.
The effort was to make sure seniors age 65 and older had gifts for Christmas.
“They are so appreciative. I went to one nursing home, and the people were so thankful,” Hovanic said.
Volunteers brought the gifts last week to the main entrance lobby of the probate court.
