Ryan nominates 16 area students to military academies

Sixteen high school students in the 13th U.S. Congressional District have been nominated by Rep. Timothy J. Ryan to attend national military academies.

Each completed an application and were interviewed by a nominating committee in the district, and the group will be honored Sunday during a breakfast put on by Ryan at McMenamy’s in Niles. The students must still be accepted:

Donald Clyde, Struthers High School – U.S. Military Academy

Patrick Ferguson, Tallmadge High School – U.S. Military Academy

Elijah Forbes, Cuyahoga Falls High School – U.S. Naval Academy

Corey Fox, Barberton High School – U.S. Merchant Marine Academy

Garrett Gardner, Poland High School – U.S. Air Force Academy

Gregory Haylett, Poland High School – U.S. Naval Academy

Madeline Lewis, Howland High School – U.S. Military Academy

Marcus Masello, Boardman High School – U.S. Military Academy

Derek McGuckin, Cuyahoga Valley Christian School – U.S. Air Force Academy

Sean Pregi, Boardman High School – U.S. Naval Academy

Eriq Rivera, Warren G. Harding High School – U.S. Military Academy

Haley Spletzer, Newton Falls High School – U.S. Air Force Academy
