Canal history topic of program

HISTORY NIGHT ON THE CANALS: Jim McFarland of Warren will share the research he has done on the Pennsylvania and Ohio Canal that ran through Leavittsburg at a program at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Leavittsburg Historical Museum, 4901 W. Market St. The program is part of the History Night at the Heritage Museum. The canal was the local way of getting products made here shipped from the area to Akron and Pittsburgh and importing other products to Warren.

SPRING SPEAKER: The Audubon Society / Mahoning Valley will hold a “Spring Beauty – Season’s Beginnings” at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Mill Creek Metroparks, state Route 46, Canfield. The program will be presented by Jeffrey Hall, president of the Washington County Audubon Society of New Jersey.

BENEFIT TO HELP FAMILY: A benefit will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday at the Apostolic Pentecostal Church, 3101 DeForest Road S.E., Warren, which will help the family of Amanda H. Wood-Leedy, who died from a fall at her home.

She and her husband, Gene, had a blended family of five children. The Wood family established a memorial fund this year to provide financial support for her two minor children.

WELLNESS FAIR AT CENTER: Vista Care Centers will hold Dr. Friedrich’s Wellness Fair from 1:30 to 3 p.m. today at Victoria House, 5295 Ashley Circle, Austintown. The fair, which will include free health screenings, blood pressure checks, and podiatry consultation, is being held in honor of Friederich’s birthday. Various vendors will attend.
