THE FOURTH ANNUAL BATTING FOR LYDIA FASTPITCH SOFTBALL TOURNAMENT for 10U, 12U and 14U recreational and travel ball teams will be held on Saturday. USSSA SOFTBALL TOURNAMENT QUALIFIER will be held May 24 at Silver Park in Alliance. The tournament is double elimination with a 10-team limit for Class E men. Entry fee is $190 plus sanction fee. Running events

THE 2014 MOSQUITO LAKE CHASE 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk To benefit the Maplewood Running Rockets will be held on Memorial Day, May 26 at Maplewood High School. The 1-mile fun walk begins at 8:45 a.m. and the 5K run begins at 9 a.m. Entry fee is $16 for pre-registered runners. Race day entry fee is $20. Waiver must be signed to be registered. Shirts are guaranteed for first 200 registrants. Participants can pick up their packet and check in at Maplewood High located just east of Mecca Circle on state Route 88. Day-of-race registration begins at 7:30 a.m. Prize money and awards will be presented to the top three male and female finishers overall: $75, $50, and $25. Awards will also be presented to the top 3 finishers in each of these age groups: 14 and under, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, and 60 and over, male and female. THE 24th ANNUAL MEMORIAL MILE will be held on May 26 at 9:35 a.m. in Boardman. Some of the best runners in the area will compete for gift certificates and awards in 14 age groups. Runners ages 11 and under are free with preregistration by May 19. The entry fee is $8 in advance for all others and $10 day of race for everyone. The race starts at state Routes 224 and 7. IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY IN AUSTINTOWN is holding the church festival 5K on June 5. Start time for the 5K is 7 p.m. A short distance, quarter mile children’s run will begin before the 5K. Advance entry $13. To register that day is $15. Kids run is free but children need to have an entry form signed by parent or legal guardian. THE THIRD ANNUAL WEST FARMINGTON 5K run and 1-mile walk will be held on July 25 at 7 p.m. The run benefits the West Farmington Festival Scholarship Fund. The run and walk will be held at West Farmington Village Park. Day of race registration and check in begins at 5:30 p.m. on Third Street in front of the village garage. Cost is $12 if received by Monday July 14 or $15 after that date. The entry fee is non refundable. All pre-registered participants will receive an exclusive cotton blend tech T-shirt. Awards will be given to the top three male and female 5K runners. Other awards will be given in the following age groups: 13-and under, 14-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59 and 60 and over. Basketball camps

THE TRUMBULL BASKETBALL SCHOOL at the Niles Wellness Center will again be holding two summer basketball camps in June for both boys and girls. The first camp will be on June 16, 17, and 18 for second through fifth grades from 9 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. with the cost being $50. This camp will be strictly fundamentals. The second camp will be on June 23, 24, 25 and 26 for fifth through eighth grades from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. with cost being $100. This camp will be a combination of fundamentals and team play. PENN-OHIO STORM is holding a basketball skills camp for girls and boys in kindergarten through ninth grade on June 23 through 27. Girls will be from 9 a.m. to noon with the boys following from 1 to 4 p.m. The camp will take place at Sharon High School. Cost is $70 and includes a basketball, T-shirt and awards. WARREN G. HARDING BASKETBALL will be holding a summer camp June 30 through July 3 for students in third through ninth grade. Grades 3-6 will be from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. and Grades 7-9 will be from noon to 3 p.m. If the student is a participant in the Inspiring Minds Program, the camp is free of charge. Cost for Warren City Schools students is $10. Cost for non-Warren City Schools students is $50. Registration forms will be available at the Warren G. NILES HIGH SCHOOL AND MIDDLE SCHOOL ATHLETES are being offered sports physicals for the 2014-15 school year, given by Competitive Edge Sports Medicine. The physicals will be given from 4 to 6 p.m. on May 28 at the Niles High School cafeteria. Cost for the physical is $15. Volleyball camps

HUBBARD HIGH SCHOOL is announcing its two volleyball camps for this summer. The first is the Hubbard Instructional camp, which will be held from June 9 through 11 from 9 a.m. to noon for girls in second through ninth grades. The cost is $50. The second camp is the Shenango Valley Volleyball camp, being held June 23 and 24 for girls in fifth through 12th grades. The camp will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and is $65. The camp staff will include college and high school coaches, college players and former elite high school players. THE RALPH A. INFANTE WELLNESS CENTER will be hosting its sixth annual indoor summer tennis camp from June 9 to June 12 and from June 16 to June 19, going from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. each day. The camp will feature conditioning, skills, strategy and games for boys and girls from ages 7 to 18. Campers must bring their own age-appropriate racquet and wear tennis shoes. The total cost is $80, which includes a free t-shirt for all registrations paid by May 30. UPPER90 SOCCER SKILLS ACADEMY will be holding a youth soccer clinic at Lakeview High School on June 16 to 18 from 9 to 11 a.m. Under the direction of Nate Mailach, a 2012 NSCAA National Coach of the Year finalist, the clinic will focus on fundamental soccer skills for student athletes at various skill levels. Students entering grades second through eighth from any school district are invited to attend, with the cost per player being $30.
