Warren police ID woman’s body

Police have identified a woman whose body was found late Friday in Warren.

The body of a white female was found on the side of Pershing Avenue S.W. around 10 p.m. Friday by Warren Police. She was described as younger than 30 years of age, from 5-feet, 6-inches to 5-feet, 7-inches tall, weighing between 140 and 150 pounds with brown hair. She had no identification on her.

Police had released a photograph of the body to the media for the public’s assistance in identifying the woman, but on Saturday afternoon asked that the photo no longer be distributed as they had secured a positive ID.

Warren Police Det. Nick Carney said her identity was not being released as of late Saturday, but did confirm that she is from the area and that more information will be released in the coming week.

“We have notified some family but everything remains under investigation,” he said.

As to the question of whether the woman’s death is being considered a homicide, Carney said, “We’re not ruling anything out.”
