Bernadette A. Wilkerson

LIBERTY- Bernadette A. Wilkerson, 86, passed away peacefully at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 9, 2014, at the Liberty Health Care Center.

She was born April 11, 1928, in Braddock, Pa., the daughter of Vincent and Mary Ebbitt. Prior to moving to the nursing home, she lived on Morris Place in Niles.

For more than 20 years she worked in the JCPenney catalog department at the Eastwood Mall and was a poll worker for the Trumbull County Board of Elections. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and enjoyed sewing, gardening and walking with her neighborhood friends and dog “country boy.”

Bernadette is survived by four sons, Daniel (Carolyn) Wilkerson of Howland, Wayne Wilkerson of Niles, Kevin (Margaret) Wilkerson of El Reno, Okla., David Wilkerson of Niles; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sister, Patricia Brawdy of Niles.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman T. Wilkerson, whom she married Nov. 13, 1954, and who died in November 1987, and several brothers.

Calling hours will be 5 to 7 p.m. today at the Holeton-Yuhasz Funeral Home.

A service of Christian burial will be 10 a.m. Saturday, at the funeral home with the Rev. Thomas Kraszewski of St. Stephen Church officiating.

Burial will be in Niles City Cemetery.
