Fri., 11:09 pm: Man with shotgun holds up Howland Papa John’s

HOWLAND — Police are searching tonight for gunman who robbed Papa John’s, 1976 Elm Road, a few minutes ago, shortly before 11 p.m.

A man with a shotgun ordered those inside the restaurant to lie down on the floor. The man left on foot in the direction of the Elm Road Plaza, taking with him cash from the store.

It was not known if a getaway vehicle may have been waiting nearby, though a few minutes later, a man matching the description was seen getting into the passenger seat of a Cadillac parked at Valley View, according to police scanner traffic. The car then sped off.

The robber is described as a heavyset black male with a beard, wearing a red shirt, black pants and with a white shirt pulled over his face as a disguise.

The same location was robbed in a similar fashion in October, December and May.
